Apply for your Vietnam visa
Are you travelling to Vietnam and staying there for less than 45 days? You may not need to apply for a visa for Vietnam in that case. Since 15 August 2025, travellers with a British or Irish passport may stay in Vietnam for up to 45 days visa-free. Besides the United Kingdom and Ireland, on 15 August 2025, ten other European nationalities were granted a visa exemption for Vietnam.
When am I still obliged to apply for an (e-)visa? You will need a Vietnam visa if you are travelling for business and you plan to stay in Vietnam for between 45 and 90 days, if you wish to work in Vietnam or if you wish to live in the country for a longer period of time. The visa on arrival (VOA) is not used any more
A few years ago, it was still possible to obtain a visa on arrival (VOA). When Vietnam reopened for tourism after the coronavirus pandemic, visas on arrival were no longer available. If you need a Vietnam visa, the e-visa is the easiest way to comply with the visa requirement.

The e-visa application procedure step by step
The first part of the application procedure is to complete the application form. Here you will need to provide some personal and contact details, as well as information about your trip. In order to apply for the Vietnam e-visa, you need to know in advance on which day you will arrive and how long you want to stay. The visa validity period depends on your arrival and departure dates. If you are travelling to Vietnam with a group, you can use the same form to apply for a visa for several people at the same time.
Pay the cost of the visa
Once you have filled in the application form, you will need to pay the cost of the e-visa. You may choose among different safe online payment methods: PayPal, creditcard, Trustly, Google Pay or Apple Pay. The cost of the e-visa for Vietnam is £54,95. If you need your visa urgently, you have the possibility to submit an urgent application, for an extra charge of £17,50 per visa.
Submit the necessary documents
After this, you will then be taken to your personal status page. There you will be able to submit the required documents. You must upload an ID photo and a passport scan of photo for each traveller. It is not a problem if you are unable to upload these documents immediately. After payment, you will automatically receive an email with a link to your status page. Your application will be complete once you have submitted the documents. Obtain your visa and print it
Once your visa has been granted, you will receive an email and a sms where you will find a link to your personal status page. There you will be able to download your visa.
